7-Eleven Nominates AvalonWilliamsburg, VA - 25 Apr 2008 The 7-Eleven employees of Greater Williamsburg selected Avalon to receive a $1,000 grant from their 7-Eleven, Inc. Employee Charity Fund. With the emergency shelter currently full and the Residential Services Program meeting the needs of 11 women and 12 children overall, their nomination of Avalon is much appreciated. Such community support directly impacts the future of our clients.
Spring Spruce-UpWilliamsburg, VA - 17 Apr 2008 Like the employees of Bayport Credit Union, who "adopted" a transitional apartment at Avalon in February, the employees of Avid LLC of Yorktown "adopted" a bedroom in the emergency shelter. Paul Gelhausen, Andy Turnbull, Jenny Gelhausen, Ernie Keen, Kelly Londeuberg, Joe Chase and John Gregory spent last Friday prepping and painting the room and re-finishing two sets of bunk beds. Summer Camp for Avalon's KidsWilliamsburg, VA - 04 Apr 2008 Avalon wishes to recognize James City County Parks and Recreation Department for awarding summer camp scholarships to the children living in our Transitional housing apartments. This year, five of our children fell into the age range for summer camp and all five received scholarships. Camp activities include weekly themes, field trips, and swim days. Special thanks to James City County for giving our kids this opportunity!
