Emergency Shelter......volunteers are needed to help with tutoring, transportation, food and clothing sorting, life skills, housing and employment resources. Avalon provides emergency shelter for women and their children who are the victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse. Transitional Apartments......volunteers are needed to provide life-skills, education, job skills training, property repair, and assistance with child care. Avalon provides Transitional Housing opportunities for women who qualify.
Bayport Credit Union was the first organization to sign-up for our Adopt-A-Apartment Project. Employees pooled their resources and purchased new, matching bedding, curtains, and bath accessories for a vacant apartment. They spent a morning doing an "Extreme Makeover" and created a warm, comfortable home for the next family to move-in. With five more transitional apartments, this is a great chance for your group to donate & volunteer. DOUBLE THE GOOD! Community Outreach...
...volunteers are needed to assist at events and volunteer fairs for set-up, distribution of materials, and to provide education to others who may be interested in becoming volunteers themselves. Avalon will reduce the incidence of violence by raising awareness in the community. Interested in Becoming a Volunteer......if you are ready to join in the movement of "Giving Hope.
