How Avalon Meets the Needs of Survivors
|
|
|
We wrap-up Domestic
Violence Awareness Month, by showing how Avalon is
meeting the needs of victims in our
community. Beyond providing shelter and
counseling, our cutting-edge programs
are working to increase economic
security for survivors. In so doing, women
will be fully empowered - capable of
providing for themselves and their children
in their own safe, secure, permanent housing.

Residential Services
Program
In comparison to the
2005-2006 fiscal year, the number of women and
children served during 2006-2007 indicates a
slight drop. This is attributed to residents
staying longer and taking advantage
of intensive services and invaluable
resources.
Community Outreach Program
228 women
and youth received counseling services through the
Outreach Office and School Based special needs
group. Legal Advocacy, court accompaniment,
and help with protective orders aided
147 clients. Thirty-six educational
