    Seal of Virgina

A bill has been sponsored by Del. Ward, D-Hampton, that would add "dating violence" and "characteristics of abusive relationships" to the family life curriculum in public schools. Identifying the warning signs of abusive relationships may help teenagers and young adults avoid date rape and dating violence later on in life, he contends. Avalon's School-Based Program has long believed that educating children about healthy and unhealthy relationships is crucial in breaking the cycle of violence.
