What Can You Do to Help Stop Domestic Violence?

YOU make the difference for families trying to live a violence free life. Here are a few ways to help right now...

Become a VOLUNTEER. There are numerous opportunities and ways to use your time and talents. Visit our Volunteers web page or call our Volunteer Coordinator, Carmen Blair at 258-5022.

Make a FINANCIAL contribution. Although Avalon is able to fund all but 17% ($69,000) of its mission based salaries through state, federal and local grants, we still need the generosity of people from our community. The need for additional corporate and private support is ongoing and becoming more critical as government funding decreases.

Want to get your company involved in making a difference in your community? Many corporations have EMPLOYER MATCHING GIFTS programs. Some even match the gifts of employee's spouses and retired employees as well. Click to see a list of participating corporations or ask your Human Resource Department about your employer's policy.

The online mall at iGive has over 680 stores!  See the complete list, you may be planning on shopping at one of these sites next.

The Wardrobe, at the Village Shops at Kingsmill, have partnered for Clothes to "Move In".  Proceeds from consigned pieces are used to assist women transitioning from Avalon into their own, permanent housing. Funds help pay for moving expenses & security deposits.

To date, this project has helped 3 women obtain housing quicker. Your fashions enabled us to give them 1/2 the down payments required.
